Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Magic 8 Ball Fortune Teller mobile application for iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play) (the “App”) handles information about you. The App is operated by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). We have designed the App to work without accounts and without asking you for any personal details.
1. Information we collect
The App does not require registration, and we do not ask you to provide your name, email address, or any other personal details. We do not operate our own servers that store your personal information.
However, the App is free and supported by advertising. To serve ads, our advertising partners (listed in Section 3) automatically collect certain information from your device through their software development kits (SDKs) embedded in the App:
- Device identifiers — on iOS, the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and the identifier for vendors (IDFV); on Android, the Google Advertising ID (GAID), subject to your ads personalization settings;
- Network and device information — IP address, approximate (coarse) location derived from the IP address, device model, operating system version, language, time zone, screen parameters, mobile carrier;
- Advertising interaction data — which ads were requested, served, viewed, and clicked, and related diagnostic and performance data;
- App usage data — session information used for ad frequency capping, fraud prevention, and analytics;
- Crash and performance data — anonymized crash logs and diagnostics used to keep the App stable (see Section 4).
Questions you ask the Magic 8 Ball are never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere — answers are generated on your device. The device motion sensor is used only to detect the shake gesture, in real time, on the device.
If the App offers in-app purchases, payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your payment details.
2. How this information is used
The information described above is used by our advertising partners to:
- serve ads inside the App (personalized ads where you have given consent, or non-personalized / limited ads otherwise);
- measure ad performance and cap how often you see the same ad;
- detect and prevent fraud and invalid traffic;
- maintain and improve their advertising services.
We receive only aggregated statistics from our advertising partners (for example, the number of ad impressions). We do not receive information that directly identifies you.
3. Advertising partners
Advertising in the App is delivered through the Appodeal mediation platform, which connects the App to the advertising networks listed below. Each partner processes data under its own privacy policy:
| Partner | Privacy policy |
|---|---|
| Appodeal (ad mediation) | appodeal.com/privacy-policy |
| Google AdMob | policies.google.com/privacy |
| BidMachine | bidmachine.com/privacy-policy |
| Unity Ads | unity.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| AppLovin | applovin.com/privacy |
| Vungle (Liftoff) | liftoff.io/privacy-policy |
| BIGO Ads | bigoads.com/privacy |
| ironSource (a Unity company) | unity.com/legal/privacy-policy |
For details on how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
4. Analytics and crash reporting
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate usage (for example, how often the App is opened) and Firebase Crashlytics to receive anonymized crash reports. These services are provided by Google and process data such as app-scoped identifiers, device information, and crash traces under Google's privacy policy.
5. Consent in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App shows a consent form on first launch through a consent management platform certified under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (Google's consent management solution). Personalized ads are shown only if you give consent; otherwise you receive non-personalized or limited ads.
The legal bases for processing are your consent (for personalized advertising) and legitimate interests (for non-personalized advertising, fraud prevention, and security). You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the privacy options available in the App; withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
6. Your choices on iOS and Android
iOS. Access to the advertising identifier (IDFA) additionally requires your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this permission at any time in your device settings under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. If you decline, advertising partners do not receive your IDFA and ads are not personalized based on it.
Android. You can opt out of ads personalization, and reset or delete your Google Advertising ID, at any time under Settings › Google › Ads (on some devices: Settings › Privacy › Ads). If you delete the identifier, advertising partners can no longer use it for personalized ads.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Residents of the EEA and the UK also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as defined by those laws. You can exercise this by declining tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt and by using the consent options in the App.
Because the personal information described in this policy is collected and held by our advertising partners rather than by us, requests concerning that information can also be made directly to the relevant partner using the links in Section 3. You can always contact us using the details below, and we will do our best to assist.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly permit the collection of personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App and their information was collected, please contact us.
9. Data retention and international transfers
We do not store your personal information. Our advertising partners retain the data they collect for the periods described in their own privacy policies and may process it on servers located in other countries, including the United States, subject to safeguards required by applicable law (such as standard contractual clauses).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this address, and the effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected in an updated consent form where required by law.
